Browse the web with peace of mind
Soothe began in 2017 as part of the HackHarassment challenge in Ottawa, Canada.
The inspiration came from a close friend who had asked about a tool to help her avoid certain content on the web without simply blocking the page. After realizing that no tool was available that let you set up and get started quickly, as well as let you have full control over what content you wished to avoid, we set out to build a good solution.
Soothe has since won a HackHarassment prize, Major League Hacking prize, been featured on Product Hunt and helped 100+ users avoid 12,000+ instances of online harassment and potential triggers.
We often don’t consider tasks like browsing the web or using social media to be stressful, however for nearly 4 in 10 kids online harassment is a reality. Our aim is to provide them the opportunity of being able to leave a harmful exchange without experiencing any trauma, and giving them time to seek further assistance.
Being able to do research online, talk to friends, read the news etc. should be a basic right for anyone with access to the internet - Soothe aims to make that a reality.
