More Than Barbering: #communitywellness at Our Spot

We bring holistic wellness to minority Baltimoreans via a safe and familiar setting.

The problem we aim to solve:

We want to help Black and Brown folks, especially men, understand that self-care and wellness goes beyond haircuts to body care, spiritual wellness, and exposure to art, culture, and community. So we bring it to them in a safe familiar, judgment free space.

The solution our project offers:

We offer wellness services (massage, acupuncture, Reiki) in shop, art exhibit space commission free, natural body products all made locally, classes and workshops on health, wellness, and spirituality.

The impact our project had so far:

We've seen men and women receive massage, acupuncture, and Reiki for the first time. The community is getting excited!

About the project

Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment that encourages, fosters, promotes and nurtures personal health and self awareness by targeting the head, mind, body and spirit. In conjunction with our tag line, “Head. Mind. Body. Spirit”, we aim to go beyond just haircuts.

OUR Spot Natural Grooming & Wellness is part of an LLC formed by Oscar Bueno and Belinda Prattis, two owner-operator parties licensed in barbering and massage therapy, respectively. We provide natural grooming and wellness services with a focus on Black & Latino men, but open to serve all. Though there are numerous barbering facilities throughout the city of Baltimore, there is a lack of wellness and therapeutic resources/services within minority communities.

We also provide a commission-free venue for local artists and makers to showcase their artwork and products, and the artwork surrounds a different theme every three months.

In 2018, having been open for only 4 months, we are looking to start our free wellness, health, spiritual, and financial literacy workshops and information sessions.
