Gumbatainment Primary Co-Operative Limited

Gumbatainment Co-Op Ltd provides sports, arts and cultural entertainment

The problem we aim to solve:

Gumbatainment Co-Op Ltd is keen on providing access for all, to participate and network through business, sports, arts and cultural activities. Our projects will help communities with information tools to fight crime, raise health awareness and combat any other social ills.

The solution our project offers:

Gumbatainment Co-Op Ltd seeks to create job opportunities for students, artists, and other participants. We are keen on showcasing the talent of our local artists and participants. We look to provide synergistic hubs, a fresh culture that combines business, sports, arts and culture under one roof.

The impact our project had so far:

We have a steadily growing audience in the communities where we've held events. Our network is at least 3000 strong.

About the project

Gumbatainment Co-Operative Ltd is a recently registered primary cooperative that has been active in the entertainment industry since 2010, with our specific focus in the developing arts, sports and cultural spheres around our communities. We have organised multiple events in Khayelitsha, Delft, Mandalay and Bellville in the past seven years. These events are aimed at creating a synergistic hub that will bring artists, sports players, cultural activists, entrepreneurs and local community members under one roof. We believe that this initiative will inject positive life and energy into our communities which can integrate and uplift them and their surroundings as this is a good way to counter the social ills that are a plague our youth and society at large. We strive to eliminate unemployment, fight crime and drug abuse. We intend to work with government, businesses, schools and community members in making our projects sustainable.

Our funding model

We are currently partially dependent on mutually beneficial partnerships to raise funding in that we ensure that our investors receive the platform to brand and conduct clientele expenditure at our our events, projects and outreach programs.

We are intent on working with all forms of communities, including rehabilitation centers, universities etc. As a student operated business, we raise some of our funds from gate takings at our Barn Sessions. We also ask employed family members and friends for minimal contributions towards our cause for the community. We also make use of collaborations to ensure that we have the contribution of skill as ours is sometimes not adequate to cover the masses we aim to deal with. Finally, as a 100% black-owned enterprise, it is our social responsibility to find partners to help us make our communities better in all ways possible.
