How you can help
This is a requirement for commercial drone service operations within the South African airspace. Besides commercial drone pilots needing to be trained and licensed, the business itself needs to be operating with the safety limits of aviation operations and that of the general public.
An ROC is a commercial breakdown of a company’s permissible operations submitted and as approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. A drone services company actually gets to be treated like a Air Services Licensed company, which naturally means that the costs of doing business escalate.
But before a company can offer such said services, a ROC application needs to be followed, in which case that might take anything from 6months to two years. During that time, business operations need to be ready for review by the authorities, while no actual business (income-generating drone services are offered)
