Break Stereotypes

Let's be united together and Break Stereotypes!

We are an international youth movement that wants to break stereotypes. We don’t want to be a generation that carries on the stereotypes of the past. We don’t want prejudices to rule over our lives and our relations with people coming from other countries, having a different cultural background or religious beliefs. We want a world of equality, tolerance, peace and intercultural friendship.

About the project

Stereotypes do exist, but we have to walk through them.

Stereotypes exist! People tend to generalize stereotypes. We don’t want prejudices to rule over our relations with people coming from other countries, We want a world of equality, tolerance, peace and intercultural friendship.

That is why we all have to ACT together and break stereotypes!

Young people all over the world can #breakstereotypes by spreading a message of tolerance and diversity!

  • Within this movement, we are running a photo and video campaign that show many stereotypes and proves that they are not true! In the social media campaign, young people can upload pictures with their personal #breakstereotypes statement. They can show that stereotypes about their country, gender or religion are not true and share their story on our website http://breakstereotypes.org/tell-us-yours/

  • At the same time, we want to train young people in different countries (initially in Europe, Northern and Western Africa) in workshops on stereotypes, discrimination and racism. The participants shall become multiplicators and learn how to organize their own workshops and campaigns in their country to reach a maximum of young people. Through an active exchange and intercultural dialogue on stereotypes, we want young people to learn from each other, to be curious and open in order to show that stereotypes cannot be generalized and that we are all different but the same! We want to change stereotypical mindsets and perceptions.

  • We can only reach these goals by mobilizing as many young people as possible that engage in this fight against stereotypes.

Stereotypes lose their power when the world is found to be more complex than the stereotype would suggest. When we learn that individuals do not fit the group stereotype, then it begins to fall apart.

Great idea, great project, great video! Looking forward to seeing more of you … :)

Thank you so much dear Mathias :)

A very much needed initiative. On a personal level, going beyond stereotypes is the first step to get really in contact with people coming from different countries than yours: once you are able to do this, the doors of new friendships are open for you. On a global level, breaking stereotypes is the key to have a deeper understanding of what’s going on in the world. So let’s #breakstereotypes, also thanks to this fresh and direct project ;)

agree, great project and initiative!!!

Keep on pushing! Pretty sure that’s a long, challenging way but all worth it.
