European Social Innovation Competition
Are you a social innovator, entrepreneur, student, tech enthusiast, educator, designer, mover and shaker, doer and shaker, and someone who want to change the world for the better. The European Commission is looking for you!
The European Social Innovation Competition asks young Europeans to come up with solutions to the problems affecting our society.
The focus of this year’s competition is on improving local chance or youth in a changing economy, ‘RE:THINK LOCAL’. Ideas that are led by young people themselves are therefore particularly encouraged.
The competition is open to applicants from EU member states and countries associated to Horizon 2020.
The competition has 3 phases:
Phase 1: first of all again, please ensure to submit your idea before April 27! Only 30 projects will be selected to enter the semi-finals. These semi-finalists are invited to take part of a social innovation academy in Romania, where they can further progress their ideas, through mentoring and support.
Phase 2: After the academy phase, 10 finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony where the 3 final winners will receive a prize of €50,000 each to further develop their ideas.
Phase 3: in 2019, the competition amongst the 30 semi-finalists will be re-opened and award the 2018 project having achieved the most significant results with an impact prize of €50,000.
